Tia Miers Q&A
When did you start naturopathy and how did it become your career?
I embarked on a career in the wellness industry after experiencing extreme hormonal imbalances coming off the oral contraceptive pill as a teenager. After many disheartening doctor visits and gynecologist appointments, I discovered the power of natural medicine and decided that I wanted to be able to help others in the same way. I began studying Naturopathy in 2013, completing the four year science degree at Endeavour College of Natural Health in 2017
What’s the first thing you do each morning upon waking?
The very first thing I do is drink 500mL of filtered water. This supports my lymphatic system and hydrates my cells.Talk us through your morning ritual?
The morning is easily my favourite time of the day!
I wake up at 5am, drink my water, brush my teeth, wash my face and put on my workout gear. I will either go for a walk or to a Pilates class. I love starting my day with movement and having some “me time”.
After exercise I grab a long black coffee and will write my goals and intentions for the day. I feel as though this gives my day structure and my mind clarity.
I will then head home and get ready for a busy day at the studio consulting.
Which products make their way into your morning beauty ritual?
Each morning I add a little bit of Braggs apple cider vinegar to some warm water and drink it (this is amazing for digestion and cleansing the blood). To wash my face I use “Botanicals by Luxe- lactic cleanser” it contains calendula and aloe to hydrate the skin and reduce congestion. I then use “Botanicals by Luxe - Green tea and Hyaluronic cream” to hydrate and regenerate my skin.
I then take a shot of my morning Naturopathic herbal tonic - a combination of liquid herbs to support my energy, hormones and skin. Next I use a primer, then a BB cream and lastly a compact mineral powder.
What’s your favourite thing about your mornings?
Morning time is easily my favourite part of the day; I believe the way you start your morning sets you up for a successful day. I make my mornings all about me, because I spend majority of my day consulting as a Naturopath, it is important to check in with myself and implement self care.
What is something you would like to start including into your morning ritual?
Meditation - often I will find myself making the excuse of “being too busy for meditation in the mornings” but I know how beneficial it can be for creating mental clarity and calming the nervous system.
Tell us one thing you do for yourself, to be a little happier and healthier?
I shop at farmers markets each weekend - it feels so special supporting local growers and nourishing my body with organic foods.
