We are so excited to announce our award win for Reporting Excellence in the Best of the Best Sustainable Packaging Awards by the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), a not-for-profit organisation leading the development of a circular economy in Australia.
This award is a testament to our ongoing efforts to eliminate virgin plastic from our product range, opting for sustainable alternatives such as refillable, glass and post-consumer recycled (PCR)–an environmentally-conscious material made from 2nd generation recycled waste.
Circularity is at the forefront of product design and development at Eye of Horus. Contrary to the traditional linear economy–make, use, and dispose–the circular economy focuses on make, use and reuse or recycle. We are continuously working towards designing products that are durable, refillable and made from recycled or endlessly recyclable materials, moving towards closing the loop in the beauty industry.
Alongside our work with APCO, we have partnered with the TerraCycle Zero Waste Box, packaging return program to help ensure the responsible disposal of the hard-to-recycle beauty items. Beauty products, in particular, cosmetics are especially challenging to recycle, with very small, complex componentry that cannot be processed at commercial waste facilities in Australia. We prioritise sourcing sustainable packaging materials, however, the packaging is just one piece; where it goes when you’re done is another.
We encourage our Australian customers to collect 5 Eye of Horus empties, message us to receive your free shipping label and send your empties to be responsibly disposed of through our Terracycle Zero Waste Box, and we will send you a $20 voucher to replenish your beauty products. Customers are also invited to drop their empties to our Byron Bay Concept Store.
